Take Care of the Little Flame

🔥 Have you ever tried to light a fireplace?

It may look simple — put some wood inside, light a flame, and wait for the room to become warm.

But making a fire is not quite that easy.

The biggest, heaviest logs may look like the best choice. They are strong and solid, and seem as though they could burn all night.

But if we place them over a tiny flame too soon, they often won’t catch fire. Sometimes, the little flame may even disappear.

It doesn’t mean the log is bad or unable to burn.

It is simply too big to begin with.

🌱 The First Flame Needs Care

A fire usually begins with small, dry pieces of wood. The little flame needs time to grow while the heat slowly builds.

At first, we may need to stay close—watching, adjusting and adding just enough wood. It can feel like a lot of effort for such a tiny flame.

But gradually, the fireplace becomes warmer. The flames rise higher, and the bigger logs begin to catch.

Once a large log is truly burning, everything becomes easier. It can hold the heat for a long time, and the fire no longer needs our attention every minute.

✨ Maybe Life Works This Way Too

Sometimes, when we begin something new, we put the “biggest log” on the fire straight away.

We decide to exercise for an hour every day, finish a big project in one week, learn a new language as quickly as possible, or change our whole life at once.

Then, when we cannot keep going, we start to wonder:

“Maybe I’m not disciplined enough.”

“Maybe this dream isn’t right for me.”

But perhaps there is nothing wrong with us — or with the dream. Perhaps the flame is simply still too small.

A five-minute practice, one paragraph, one phone call, or one tiny experiment may not look impressive. But these small actions are not meaningless. They are the kindling that helps the temperature rise. When enough warmth has gathered, something begins to change. What once needed constant effort starts to carry its own energy.

So, if something important has not caught fire yet, don’t rush to give up.

Before asking the biggest log to burn, take care of the little flame. 🔥
