We believe a song can carry more than a melody. It can carry love, gratitude, encouragement, remembrance, and sometimes a message we find difficult to put into words. And when that song travels into the mountains, perhaps it can carry something further — a small act of care for the planet.

 

That’s why we created Songs for the Mountains — Clean-Up Project, an ongoing OOS non-profit project bringing together music, storytelling, human connection, and environmental action.

 

Send a Song. Send a Blessing.

The idea is simple: You request a song and send a blessing. We carry both into the mountains, perform and film your song along the way, and carry rubbish back out with us.

Your song can be for anyone — someone you love, someone you miss, someone who needs encouragement, or yourself. Or it can be for a mountain, a forest, an animal, the ocean, the Earth, or all living beings.

Your contribution helps support our ongoing mountain-cleanup journeys.

 

We Carry Songs In. We Carry Rubbish Out.

 

OOS founder Lois Hong spends much of the year filming, climbing and working in mountain environments across the Himalayas, Tibet, China and the Southern Alps, New Zealand. Over the years, the growing traces of rubbish in these beautiful landscapes became increasingly difficult to ignore.

 

So alongside our cameras and musical instruments, we began carrying rubbish bags.

Wherever the songs take us, we try to leave the mountains a little cleaner than we found them.

 

One Song, Unconditional Love

 

We believe love can travel further than between people.

We can love a person.
We can love a mountain.
We can love an animal, a forest, or a planet we all share.

 

Not everyone can travel into the Himalayas or carry rubbish down a remote trail. But perhaps you can send a song — and we can carry it with us. A simple song request can become a blessing, a story, a shared journey, and a real-world environmental action.

 

Sometimes making a difference begins with something small. And sometimes, it begins with a song.
