Is an Easy Life Really a Good Life?

🌬️ When the Wind Pushes Back
One afternoon, a child went to the park to fly a kite. The sky was blue and peaceful. There was no rain, no storm — and not even a little wind.
“What a perfect day!” the child said.
But no matter how fast he ran, the kite would not rise. It dragged quietly along the grass.
His grandfather smiled and said, “A calm sky may feel comfortable, but a kite needs the wind to discover that it can fly.”
The child looked up. He had always thought the wind was something that pushed against him. He had never realised it could also lift him.
🎹 When everything feels too easy
A few days later, the child played a piano piece he knew by heart. His fingers moved quickly, but his mind was somewhere else — thinking about lunch, a game, and what he might do tomorrow.
Then suddenly, he played the wrong note. He stopped. For the first time that day, he really listened. He heard the melody again. He noticed the quiet space between two notes. He remembered why he had loved the music in the first place.
The mistake had brought him back.
🌱 A little resistance can wake us up
When everything goes smoothly, we sometimes move through life without really being there.
We speak without listening.
We practise without learning.
We walk without noticing the road beneath our feet.
Then something interrupts us: a difficult question, a wrong note, a closed door, or a wind that refuses to blow in the direction we want.
It may feel frustrating, but it can also be a small bell saying:
“Wake up. Look again. There is something here for you.”
We do not need to wish for storms. Safety, warmth and rest are also important.
But when the wind does push back, perhaps we do not have to see it only as an enemy. Sometimes it strengthens our wings, deepens our roots, and brings our wandering hearts back to where we are.
✨ A little question for you
Has something ever gone wrong — and helped you notice something you had forgotten?
Perhaps the difficult moment was not asking you to stop. Perhaps it was teaching you how to fly.🪽
