A Quiet Burning｜静静燃烧｜Dhaulagiri धौलागिरी 2025
Dhaulagiri rises through the gathering clouds, its snow-covered summit catching the last golden light. For a fleeting moment, the clouds seem to catch fire, while the mountain remains still — immense, silent, untouched by the drama unfolding around it. There is something powerful in that contrast: fire and snow, movement and stillness, light and shadow.
Not everything that burns makes a sound. Some light burns quietly.
Lois Hong photographed this image in 2025, shortly before setting out on her expedition to Annapurna. It was only a passing glimpse of Dhaulagiri — its snow-covered summit rising through the clouds, caught in a quiet burning of golden light — yet the beauty of that moment stayed with her long after.
She did not know then that their paths would cross again.
A year later, in 2026, a series of unexpected turns brought her back to Dhaulagiri — this time not simply to look at the mountain from afar, but to step into it herself.
Perhaps some mountains enter our lives this way: first as a distant glimpse, then as a memory we cannot quite let go of, until one day, somehow, we find ourselves returning to them.

Production and Shipping
Production is done with care by our lovely collaborating company workers. I take care of the production process every step from printing to framing. Each image is made with the finest materials with meticulous attention to detail and color accuracy, before being hand-mounted and framed.
Please allow 1-2 weeks for the production and shipping process. International orders take 3-4 weeks.
Duties and taxes on international shipments are not included, and vary depending on country and on the artwork ordered.
Shipping times can increase significantly around public holidays as shippers get overwhelmed.
