🧐 Is What We See Always Real?
Have you ever heard someone say, “Seeing is believing”? It means: Only the things we see with our eyes are real.
But… is that really true? Sometimes, what we “see” might just be our eyes tricking us!
🌕 Looking at the Moon: Everyone Sees It Differently
When I look at the moon, I think it's a beautiful palace where Chang’e lives with her little bunny.
Long ago, a Chinese poet named Li Bai said: “The moon looks like a big white plate.”
But a scientist would say, “The moon is a giant rocky ball. It’s full of craters, lava plains, and mountains.”
So who is right? Chang’e’s moon? Li Bai’s moon? The scientist’s moon? 🌝🌛🌜
Actually, everyone sees the moon a little differently — because what we see is also shaped by what we feel and imagine inside our hearts.
🧠 Our Eyes See What the Brain Tells Them To See
Did you know? What we see isn’t just like a camera photo. Our brain is busy putting together all the pieces from light and memory!
For example: You see a shiny stone in the forest and think, “Treasure!” But the squirrel next to you just sees, “a boring rock.” That’s because what we see outside… is often a reflection of what’s inside our minds.
🪄 Magicians from Long Ago Could Trick Your Eyes!
A long time ago in India, there were special performers called illusionists. They did amazing tricks — like throwing a rope into the sky, and a child climbed up and disappeared into the clouds! It looked so real! But it was just a clever trick using sunlight, shiny powder, and angles. They also used two mirrors to make you see endless copies of yourself. Then — SMASH! — they broke the mirrors, and everything disappeared.
That’s a bit like what Buddhists say: “All things we see are illusions.”
🧘♀️ Maybe We Should Look Inside Instead
Since our eyes sometimes trick us, maybe it’s a good idea to rest them once in a while.
Let’s try closing our eyes and looking into our hearts. ❤️
When our minds become quiet — like a still lake 🌊 — we might finally see the world a little more clearly and truly.
🎨 Let’s Think!
* Have you ever seen something wrong before?
* Have you ever dreamed something and thought it was real?
* What does your moon look like?
